Women's health is an underserved population, but SO needed! Pelvic health is vital to normal daily functions. Women's bodies go through a tremendous amount of change from puberty to pregnancy to menopause. The physical and hormonal changes can dramatically change form and function. I am here to treat, guide and educate on these common conditions:
It is truly incredible how fast our bodies transform and adapt while growing a human. During pregnancy, our bodies go through so many changes including: Skeletal, postural, ligamentous, muscular, hormonal, physiological, and visceral. In the past, our culture and current standards for postnatal care typically suggest return to normal activity after six weeks. Other countries actually direct women to postpartum care, and for very good reason!
During pregnancy our center of gravity changes, the curves in our spine increase, ribs expand, joints become more mobile, abdominal muscles separate, glutes weaken, hip flexors get tighter, pelvic floor muscles drop, the cardiovascular system is more taxed, and that is only the start! With all these changes, you could imagine how your body may need some TLC and training in order for it to return to previous level of function without complication.
To name a few, these changes can lead to:
Even if you had a “normal," low-risk birth; your body still went through tremendous trauma. It is always a good idea to rehab to the right way to prevent injuries or complications in the future!
If you suffer from: low back pain, sacroiliac joint pain, pubis symphysis diastasis, sciatica, diastasis recti, or simply just don’t feel physically ready to return to your activity, then PT is perfect for you.
Whether you are pregnant, nursing, or chasing a baby around, there is a good chance your body may need some guidance on proper function. You may simply need some muscle tension relief from holding baby or you may need some retraining of the abdominal muscles.
